What I learned from The Ups and Downs of Life course:
I feel like by taking this course I truly learned about people and their ways of thinking more. I learned that there really are different people and a small percentage of people who simply cannot be helped. I learned how important it is to be able to identify these harmful people so they do not stunt our success. I learned that as an office manager, we need someone who is social and is willing and capable of helping people, having the capability of finishing projects that he/she starts, and accepting when he/she falls short in something. I never realized that being antisocial can be so harmful to society.
How can I apply this knowledge:
I really feel that learning more and being more aware about this information and types of personalities will not only help us with the dental office staff but it will also help me in my personal relationship with my cousin. She fits the definition of 100% antisocial and I have seen in the past how destructive she can be. I know that I have to consciously keep my separation from her and focus on creating a positive and happy environment around me. She has to deal with her own issues and not influence my life or bring negativity to it. I have also learned how to effectively acknowledge the problem and consciously take steps to reduce the suppression. When it comes to employees, we need to be able to recognize a person who is antisocial and in what aspects so we can decide if that person has enough social characteristics to overpower the antisocial ones and still be functional.
